James Marshall looks ahead and sees opportunities and optimism for growth

A quote from a newspaper report from January 1: “Let’s try again to enjoy 2020.”

A joke, I know, as it seems the world seems to have been on hold since the end of 2019. But here we are and it’s a Happy New Year to all for 2022.

As far as we are concerned, as one of the leading accountancy business outsourcers, we see it as a year of building on the success we have achieved. Yes, even during the pandemic, and building a stronger base for current and future potential clients, with a service others can only aspire to.

A recent survey showed a large majority of small businesses see accountants as vital to their success. It makes sense then, that those accountants receive the best outsourcing support available to maintain high standards, whether through general compliance or cloud accountancy solutions.

GI Outsourcing’s ambition and success has been demonstrated towards the end of last year when we opened our fourth office at a prime location in Mumbai.

The move was to a new space that is in the heart of the city and offers state of art facilities and is well connected to transport links for the convenience of staff.

This is very much typical of how GI treats its employees and why the firm was recently awarded the highest recognition for its work in creating a world-class training programme.

That training programme has now been accredited by the ACCA, meaning we are a Gold ACCA approved employer. At the same time, our accreditation means you can be confident we are attracting and retaining the best talent to deliver our outsourced services.

That is part of the reason for the expansion across the vast country, with the aim of expanding and enhancing an already talented and diverse talent pool, in a country with a population of around 1.4 billion.

The firm’s infrastructure helps a seamless working environment for GI resources to access and work from any GI location. This further enables the company to strengthen its capabilities and harness greater opportunities.

Our growth means that accountants can come to us when increased business means they cannot supply the level of support required by their clients themselves.

We often find firms have previously failed with other outsourcers and that’s why they come to us.

They don’t have defined processes of a UK based team like ours, with a combined 40 years of operational experience, which show our clients how to fully utilise outsourcing.

To achieve this, we have recently been involved with projects assessing internal systems for accountants. We provide an initial consultation with the firm to discover how we can offer help and support. This can involve an intense scoping session, usually a half-day with the client, sometimes remotely but preferably on site.

We then come back to the client with a list of the various apps available in the marketplace and define what they need and how they want it implemented.

We then put together a list of options and costs and can then make sure the correct apps are selected to work with internal systems already in place.

We’re not afraid to involve others and GI Outsourcing has also teamed with leading software company IRIS who provide training programmes on the latest accounting technology.

We have grown physically and have also grown our ability to help clients in key areas with data transfer. We have helped clients migrate data from old legacy desktop systems to the very latest cloud accountancy software and helped with the training.

It can cost a ridiculous amount of money for firms to have dedicated staff for these areas where we can supply the expertise in a cost-effective manner. We can also look at acquiring cloud solutions with discounted rates and passing on savings to the customer.

We can help integrate multiple products which individual suppliers cannot or will not do.

We have many projects on the go now, and into the new year where we will continue to assist our clients in getting full control of their system and software, because without that they are not in control of their clients’ relationships and deadlines.

We encourage them to take a step back and review before moving forward with us.

All of this is even more important as we are now just weeks away from the latest phase of the Government’s Making Tax Digital (MD) deadline.

Scoping and understanding our clients’ requirements is crucial as we approach the MTD deadline. We can help choose what is the best cloud solution for you and will explain why.

All of these hi-tech solutions perfectly complement our core compliance base and as our expansion continues so does the expertise of those people we place with clients. Whatever the problem, we can find a solution.
